This is the actual, current US Navy boot (with a commercial label instead of an NSN).This exact thing has an actual flight clearance in the actual Aircrew Systems NATOPS, specifically including this commercial variant. (The black variant, 495 ST, is the same except for the color and is similarly authorized)It's pretty comfy too. When I first got mine, they were the most comfortable footwear I owned. With no break-in period. I was shocked. But while this is an amazing boot, you do need to pay attention to a few things:First, the insoles *suck*. They peel and make lumps within weeks, and fall apart after a few months. Belleville replaced mine for free when it got too annoying, but YMMV. If you replaced them every month they'd probably be great.Second, you need to pay attention to your socks. It's no surprise that socks make a big difference in fit, but socks make a BIG DIFFERENCE in fit. Thick and natural fiber will help regulate temperature (and will slow down how quickly the insoles degrade).Third, leather care. When I got mine, they breathed amazingly. Later, after I wore them hard, I stripped them down, used mink oil to treat them, then polish over top. They suddenly got MUCH warmer. That was great for winter, but even spring temps made them way too warm. Re-stripping and being more careful about what I put on them has gotten much closer to the early, wonderful breathability.
