This review is after one week of wearing the shoes everyday in active and business casual environments...The length was accurate. The width was a little tight but I have very wide, flat feet. In my opinion, with new leather shoes, the first few days should feel a little tight anyway so the leather can strecth to fit your feet "like a glove". Shoes that fit on the first day will stretch anyway and look saggy after a while. You just have to walk your way through it at first.I'm on my feet quite a bit and there is adequate cushioning I put gel insoles and arch support in all my shoes due to my flat feet. The boot style allows adequate room for inserts. The construction is single layer supple leather with secondary interior heel and toe protection. The sole material is etremely durable and gives you a half inch rise.I bought my first pair of Clark's (Wallabe's) on Ebay on a whim because they were cheap and my size. I was unfamiliar with the brand. I fell in love with their comfort and quality. I researched and bought this pair as an educated buyer. I'm not emotional about shoes. I look at shoes as a tool but it doesn't hurt to look good at the same time. I've gotten three compliments this week in a younger, competitive sales environment where people are making money and spending too much on clothes to impress. I couldn't care less but have to admit it's kind of fun to say these shoes were designed in the 1950's. I'm rocking an authentic "old school' style and getting noticed without playing the game.In conclusion, these shoes are a great long term investment in a stye and quality at a price that makes sense.Side note...the shoes were delivered in their original Clark's shoe box, in an Amazon box, in a plastic envelope in two days by Amazon Prime. It was raining when they got dropped off so the plastic was important. Nice touch.UPDATE: 8/7/16 - Still going strong. showing obvious wear but no tear. I wear these all the time. Very comfortable and will buy anther pair when these ever wear out.I have had these for about 3 years. Mine are the suede Oakwood ones. They have treated me well. Quality of materials is fine. Nothing is falling apart. Other than some permanent scuffs and some creases at the joint, they've held up great. There is nothing unexpectedly bad about them.If you are worried about water getting into them, there are plenty of waterproofing sprays and kits out there. That said, I wouldn't take these in the muck with me, not unless I had some canvas leggings and a thompson, but for a day hike, walking through the desert, and the like, these do fine. I am not worried about them falling apart or being boots only in name like you sometimes see.The crepe soles are very gummy feeling, but you get used to it, and despite my initial anxiety about it, they won't wear out incredibly fast, or break apart at the edges. They will capture a lot of dirt over time and the bottom of your soles will be really dirty unless you wish to clean them.Perhaps the most interesting thing about these is that there is not a hard thud common to boots or heeled shoes. In fact, this is the most quiet pair of footwear I have ever worn. The loudest sound of you walking is either your sweaty feet inside the boot, or the shoelaces whacking the boot. It is very easy to have a completely silent walk with these boots. A great plus if you are a hitman, ninja, or just want to freak people out when they turn around.I remember as a 10 year old kid my Dad got me the Clark desert boots, which he had bought for himself too and were same as these. I wore them for a long time until I outgrew the size. I never forgot those shoes. When I came across these I travelled back in time (44 years ago) that is when I had them and suddenly nostalgia hit me hard. I had to have them there was no question about it. I ordered them and they arrived nicely wrapped in a strong shoebox. When you put them on you feel that you have worn a sock instead of a shoe, they wrap around so nicely. Comfortable would be an understatement for these classic shoes, they are heavenly. I wear 12D size and that is what I ordered, they fit perfectly. They looked great with a navy blue corduroy Ralph Lauren pants which I bought the previous day. Those who like good quality shoes must have a pair of Clark's desert boots in the closet at all times, I know I will never be without one as long as I can walk on my own two feet. The two most important things in life, a comfortable bed and a pair of comfortable shoes, if you are not in one you are in the other.I saw the fedex truck drive away and I rushed to the front door and saw the box...I felt the excitement I felt the first time I got a pair of these boots in 1968! Ahhhh! Yes these are made in Viet Nam, not England, and everything is made somewhere else now, but I still love these comfort shoes! I forgot they are British sized, not American so mine are a little on the big side but that's ok with me as it's winter and thicker socks will take care of that. At my age my feet have gotten a little bigger and roomy shoes are a good thing. If they bother me later there's room for a pair of inner soles and that will take up all the extra room. Bottom line the feel and quality of Clarks originals Desert Boot are the same now as I remember them 50 years ago. Incredibly comfortable out of the box and long lasting as always. The thing about Clarks, weather Desert Boots, Wallabees, Desert Treks, in a short time they stop being your shoes and become your best friends. Stay away from the Padmores as they are made differently and DO NOT feel the same and WILL NOT last at all. ONLY GET ORIGINALS!!! You won't be disappointed.
