Description
A stacked wood heel complements the vintage leather in this handsome loafer from FRYE. The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

The construction of the Frye loafer is ver high quality. I normally wear a size 81/2 but after reading the reviews I order a 1/2 size smaller and ther are still a bit large. They are a nice looking loafer but what would keep me from recommending them or buying another Frye shoe is the noise. They are very noisy shoe and they go clump, clump when you walk. I was in a store with tile floors and people heard me coming and looked down at my feet to see what was making the noise. I did not expect that from a Frye shoe. No more Frye shoes in my future. The quality of these shoes are really nice however even with an insole inserted the right shoe had alot of heel slippage. The color is not black..... it is a very very dark brown. If you look closely at the picture you can tell by the stitching is also brown. I just could not determine what size would have fit me better. If I had gone a size smaller the toes would have been cramped, and if I went smaller in width the left would have been to tight. So had to return them. :(These appear to be well built shoes. Nice leather. Sizing accuracy is questionable. Ordered the size I always wear. These shoes appear to run a bit narrow. Will most likely have to return them. I normally buy Johnston-Murphy brand shoes which consistently are a perfect fit and are extremely comfortable right out of the box. A little disappointed. I feel going to a wider shoe in this brand will not work. I'll need to return these for credit.I ordered a pair of Frye Chukka boots in a size 10 which fit perfect 2 months before I ordered the Men's Frye Douglas Venetian Loafer in a size 10. I thought that they would run the same being from the same company but I was wrong. The Loafer actually ran larger that the boot, so I needed to go with a 9 1/2 which fit perfect.Love the look of these shoes. Fit was just what was expected. But there is no padding in the insole. It's like walking on concrete. returned, sadlySeemed stiff and ran larger than other Frye shoes. Didn't care for the hammered look that much. Sent back. These loafers remind me of 'boat shoes.' In my opinion they are too clunky. Not sleek at all. I returned them. They are comfortable, as with most Fryes. Regardless of looks, certainly not worth MSRP.the shoes are great, love the way the fit.
