THE FIT:I have done alot of research on Fjallraven and their products. I have purchased both the Keb Jacket as well as the trousers. I'm 5' 10 and 170lbs (normally wear a 31 waist with western jeans). I ordered the medium size jacket and it fits very well. I probably could have fit in small if I wanted a tighter sleeker fit but I wouldn't have any room for baselayers when the temps lower. (I wouldn't suggest getting a large Keb jacket unless you are at least 6' 180lbs.) The same can be said with the trousers. I ordered a size 48 and I have to wear a belt with them. A size 46 would probably have been a more perfect fit for my body type. Also the particular pair that came to me was a 48 LONG. These pants look great even if they are long because of the slim fit in the legs. I'm sticking with the 48 instead of trying to go to a normal 46 because I want to be able to put at least one baselayer underneath these pants. Ideally I would wear a tighter 46 for warmer temperatures and for an even more stylish fit. No one who looks at me would think my 48 doesn't fit. Thats how well tailored Fjallravens clothes are.THE MATERIAL:The Keb jacket and trousers are made of two main materials, a very stretchy polymide and a durable and rugged G-1000 material that Fjallraven has patented. When purchasing Fjallraven gear you must pay very close attention on which parts of their clothing are the greatly esteemed G-1000 material or some other material. This really makes a difference in durability and resistance to the elements. As for the Keb trousers, its one of their trousers that have the least amount of G-1000 material mainly due to versatility being the core of the design. But this doesn't mean the trousers are not durable because the G-1000 material is placed in all the areas that receive more wear. But the polymide on both the pants and jacket are more vulnerable to rough wearing, wind, and moisture than its G-1000 counterpart. After wearing this system in the wind and also the pouring down rain I would say that the polymide areas absorb water quickly. As for the wind, it blocks much more than a fleece but a little less than a softshell jacket would. With the exception of the hood being unusually water resistant, the G-1000 material absorbs rain water as well but it much more wind resistant than the polymide. I do no know how resistant the system is to snow. Although I was suprised at the water absorption I was experiencing it was probably a greater surprise at how fast this system dried out. These issues may seem bad but its qualities like these that make this system viable in hotter seasons as well.ENVIRONMENTAL APPLICATION:Considering the purpose of the Keb design, I am convinced that it performs the best in trekking in dry, open, non-heavy brush environments ranging from 89F - 24F with a thin wool or polyester baselayer for the colder temps. The Keb setup absorbs rainwater fast despite it being advertised as water resistant, however because of its primary synthetic make-up it drys very fast as well.CONCLUSION:I love the quality of Fjallraven's gear so much that I'm buying many more of their pieces. They make different pieces for different uses and enviroments but if you're looking for one general bugout outerlayer the Keb system is one of the most stylish, adaptable, durable, and well-rounded clothing systems on the market today.Well made, durable, tough and fashionable......Put my first coat of wax on for the winter months, highly impressed with these pants, take more of my money already, best pants Ive ever owned!Great build to them and very comfortable. Living in a mostly dry climate, these trousers are the only pair I'll ever need and always use them whenever i go out on hikes. The front pockets on the thighs are very versatile for a map, phone, snacks, tools, etc. for easy access. You can wax them, but I decided not to. If you live in an area that is a bit more colder/moist then definitely consider getting the wax bar too if you get these trousers. A good gear investment if you are in need of outdoor trousers.I was very hesitant on purchasing these pants as the price tag is a bit hard to swallow. However, I own the Granit wool button up shirt made by Fjallraven and know thay produce quality clothing. I first tried their Vidda Pro trousers and found that they were extremely tight in the thighs which constricted my freedom of movement so they were quickly returned. These Keb trousers were a night and day difference! The material allows for such a more relaxed and comfortable fit and does not feel constricting in any way! I absolutely love these pants and am very happy with this purchase! The quality and construction is second to none. For size reference I wear a size 34 waist and 32 length. If you found the Vidda Pro trousers constricting like I did, definitely give these ones a try. This is my second pair of Fjällräven trousers and I have to admit that they do not disappoint. They are very sturdy, and weatherproof. I survived the 2019 polar vortex with this trousers. It is also breathable, which should be great for the warmer weathers. My only problem was, the color shown in the photo did not match the actual item sent to me. It was a black-on-black, rather than a gray-on-black. Otherwise, I highly recommend this trousers! These trousers are awesome. Package arrived on time. Very durable and resilient pants, I wore them while trekking around the Appalachian Mountains, the G1000 material held up while kneeling and climbing over jagged rocks and briars. Very comfortable and the elasticity of the material in the groin area gives a lot of flexibility while climbing and traversing around rough terrain. While trekking in the rain and mud the trousers got pretty dirty. Washing was easy, to prolong the life of the trousers I washed them with good detergent and no fabric softener in luke warm water then air dried. A purchase you won’t regret.Considerable thought and real world experience went into the design of these trousers. A step beyond any hiking trouser I’ve worn before,The legendary Keb trousers - so many features to make outdoor life better. The stretch material at top of legs and behind knees is a game changer in terms of comfort and range of movement whilst walking/climbing/ski touring. That material is however much less robust than G1000 - though mine have held up well after moderate use with just a bit of bobbling in places. The stretch panels are far less wind resistant and far more breathable too but when I’m active that’s a good thing. Venting zips not massively long but well placed and work well. I don’t use the ankle cinch strap but it is well made (partly elastic - this may degrade over time?). The boot lace hook is reliable for holding trousers in place. Thigh pockets decent but not big enough for an OS map sadly. Haven’t tried waxing yet but the process works well - it does make G1000 fabric quite a bit stiffer so may only do it on the lower sections. You can’t wax the stretch fabric so please don’t try. A note on sizing - my waist is 33 inches and I need a belt for these as the size 46 feels a touch loose. Overall I’m very pleased, usual high standards from Fjallraven and pleasingly low cost when I bought - less than half usual.Good Quality hiking trousers. Fits true to size. These pants alow one a lot of freedom of movement and are very comfortable to wear because of the elastic parts. I wore them while hiking in the rain and they remain water resistant for some 20ish min. But since they are wide you don't feel the moisture much and afterwards they dried very fast. In general a great value for hiking pants.
