Big Merrell fan. I've worn one iteration or another of Moab or Vapor Glove for the past 15 or so years. Recently purchased Alpine Sneakers for everyday/work wear. Fit and function are great, what I've come to expect from the brand. Unsure of what happened with the Alpine Sneaker line, but the version of black that is offered is most definitely not black. Pretty obviously navy (also a color option for Alpine Sneaker). Thought maybe I had been sent navy instead of black? Tongue label says they are in fact black. Not a deal breaker. They're still great shoes. I plan on keeping them. -1 star for ... I guess not being the color I ordered, even though I was sent what I ordered?Bought these for my brother-in-law and he loves them. The colors are perfectly muted... yet vibrant. My sister and their daughter both threatened to take ownership. In short, they look even better than the picture.I work for FedEx and needed shoes that were comfortable for 10+ hrs. Above and beyond.Muy buena calidad, super comodo, size perfectoAfter about 3 months, these shoes have held up all of my expectations. They are very comfortable and look great for a casual all around look. The soles are fairly dense foam so be advised that walking around in them isn't the soft sole of running or walking shoes.ComfortI’m used to New Balanced type shoes. This shape is closer to Puma sneakers which are more pointedGreat supportive and stylish shoe. Fit was right on.Sadly not up to Merrels usual standard.A VERY lightweight construction except for the sole. Mine started coming apart at the stitching between the thin suede and the thin synthetic after about three wears.Fair play to the seller.Allowed return and full refund without a quibble.1 Star for the product5 Stars for the seller. Not the quality they used to be!! I always used to wear Merrell trainers and was always impressed by how long they lasted. Having come back to them after a few years away I’m afraid to say the quality has gone downhill; the heel uppers (the bit at the back of the heel) have worn through after 3-4 months use, and at that very light use! Working from home I’m doing an embarrassing low number of steps a day.Such a shame as I was initially impressed by the item, very comfortable with great retro styling. The soles in fairness have worn well but I don’t think it will be long before the heel wear means these are only fit for the bin.I’m glad I waited to provide my review as otherwise I would have scored them much higher. These trainers are alright, although they are extremely slippy when it’s wet out with no grip on brick paths/manhole covers etc in the rain...!I was hoping they would be strong material and hard wearing, as the company is more known for hiking boots, and the outside does seem to be so but the backs inside of both wore down and cushioning ripped out after only around a month of daily wear...Apart from that they are comfy and hopefully will last a good while longer even with those inside bits gone...I've had good experience with Merrell before and so far these have been excellent as well. I like that they look more like a classic trainer, yet they feel more like a walking shoe.Although I've only had these for about 6months, there is very little wear on the sole (unlike a pair of Sketchers I had which basically fell to bits in the same length of time). Sizing seems accurate, perhaps a touch on the small side.I like Merrell trainers and walking shoes having purchased several pairs over the years. Provided you buy a size or half size up from normal they have all been good. However this pair are very disappointing, having worn then a hand full of times the front of the right shoes has collapsed in on itself and looks unsightly. As this happened after wearing a few times I could not return within the window but now find I have an £80 pair of trainers that will be taking a trip to the charity shop within weeks of purchase. Not happy, but don’t seem to have an recourse.Beware this style of Merrell trainer - I would give no stars but apparently I can’t so 1 it is.
