Description
In 1892, Milton Florsheim began producing shoes in a small factory located in Chicago, Illinois. The first pairs of Florsheim shoes made by Milton and his father, Sigmund, were a remarkable combination of style, comfort and high quality workmanship. This tradition continues today with the Florsheim family's commitment to producing trend-right, high quality footwear. Florsheim shoes are always available in a wide range of sizes and widths.

I've worn many pairs of Florsheim dress shoes and chukkas over the past 35 years, so I know what to expect and I'm always pleased. I also where Stacy Adams, Clarke's, Rockport, Nunn Bush, Bass and Allen Edmonds, so I can compare these to other great brands and these Florsheims are equally as comfortable and durable any other classic leather oxford dress shoe. This shoe is well constructed and typical of a classic Florsheim dress shoe. The stiches are tight and uniform but move well with the shoe. The size, proportions and shape of both shoes are equivalent and uniform. All of my Florsheims have lasted many years. The navy blue die is consistent in depth and tone throughout the leather and both shoes match in color and sheen. The matte polish is also consistent throughout and shoe-to shoe. A higher shine can be achieved with clear leather wax and a good buffing. The sole is a rubber material with a leather-like texture and has good grip, even on wet linoleum and light snow on asphalt. The shoe and leather upper breaks in fairly easily without blisters and overtime confirms to my foot for added comfort. Overtime the leather will relax and become more pliable and supple, yet retain its toe shape well. Using leather lotion will help the leather break in.These shoes don't have much arch support and do not have a padded heal cushion or heal cup but I find the leather insole comfortable. This style and width of Florsheim fit my narrow foot well. I actually wear 1/2 to 1 size smaller than my foot measures for Florsheim and like how the smaller size fits my foot and doesn't constrict my foot or toes.I've learned over 35 years of wearing Florsheim that you either love them or hate them, but they have many styles and types of construction that suit nearly every preference. They also last for years if cared for, so treat the leather with a good lotion or wax on occasion and they'll also break in even better and be more comfortable.I get compliments and questions about these shoes each time I wear them. I actually expect these subtle navy blue leather oxfords to initiate conversations, and they do.If you like classic oxford styles of real leather construction and can endure a mild break in period that creates a supple, form fitting shoe then you might enjoy these Florsheims.
