I bought my first pair of Keen Arroyo sandals over 10 years ago. I need arch support and weighing over 200 lbs also need a rugged sandal. The Arroyos fit the need in every way. I wear them almost every day, even in our mild SF Bay Area winters and get about two years use out of a pair. Along the way, I have tried one other model from Keen but continue to come back to the Arroyo.I really like how sturdy they are. I lucked out on the fit for my size, which is a variable 9.5 or 10 or 10.5, depending on the manufacturer. They look like a dress sandal, as far as I'm concerned. I've yet to try them hiking. Perhaps then I may like them better then for their sturdiness, as around town in summer they feel a but heavy, which might feel comfortably and reliably solid hiking up a hill and scrambling over rocks!Son super livianos, muy firmes, cómodos y la suela muy rígida para caminar en la arena, graba y piedrasThey are the most comfortable sandals ever. Right out of the box, without socks you could go hiking gI enjoy this brand a lot. I own a traditional hiking boot as well. The hiking sandals and the hiking boot feel very much the same. Great having a summer hiking shoe with grip and comfort. At first he was skeptical about wearing shoes with holes in them. But now he loves them. His feet are color in the summer and the shoes are supportive for his janitorial workIf you like an fit that's good for a pair of socks heavy or light an with out socks .shoes are still more then warable on flat or tough trails .P.S. shoe string shoe laces not alastic, makes it more vercitle. This shoe is my summertime go-to shoe. Some sand gets in but not as much as with an open toed shoe. It offers good arch support which is good for me as I have high arches. It is rugged and won't fall apart easily.Loved my first pair of Keens last year but found them (the Clearwater CX) a bit thin soled for my only holiday pair of sandals making for tired feet - so bought these bulkier ones. They already feel really comfortable.BUT - oddly, I had to buy a whole half size smaller since the UK size 9 in the Newport was so much bigger than the UK size 9 in the Clearwater. And even the 8.5 leaves me with plenty of room - I could possibly have even tried the 8 but I like loose shoes. Anyway - have a look at the pics too and you’ll see how extreme this is. The Newports are the dark ones and, honestly, don’t they look slightly bigger than the light grey/yellow Clearwaters despite the label on them saying the opposite? I know sizes vary a bit between manufacturers but this is the same manufacturer and the same kind of shoe. One explanation might be that I noticed the Newports were made in Vietnam and the Clearwaters in Cambodia. Maybe the Vietnamese have bigger feet!?Anyway the main point is - do double check your size when buying Keens. They’re great sandals but their sizing is rather inconsistent.I ordered these to replace a similar pair of leather Teva sandals, which performed very well for years but no longer seem to be available. I bought these leather Keen sandals size 9 1/2 as I wanted to wear socks with them. Put them on and my feet were slipping out of the back. I thought it must be a size issue so ordered size 9. Put them on and my feet were still slipping out of the back even though there was much less room. Too little room, in fact. I sent the size 9 back. I looked around for a comparable shoe of another brand but couldn't find anything I liked. Just for a test I took the insole out of the Keen 9 1/2 sandals and, lo and behold, my feet sat comfortably and didn't slip out. More than that, they are very comfortable. I put in a thin Clarks leather insole (size 11 fitted perfectly??) and now they are great to wear.Sadly, Keen sandals don’t appear be what they used to be. The sizes have changed, (my experience when I bought a replacement pair) and the quality too. My son has only worn this pair for a few weeks before the toggle broke and the Side strap came totally apart from the sole.We have been buying Keen sandals for several years. Never again. They aren’t cheap, and so this is very disappointing as it appears that the standards have significantly dropped. I will not by buying again. This Arroyo li is a nice sandal, my only complaint is it is slightly small in the toe box area, but i do have a broadfoot. My advice, go for the newport if like me you have a wide foot, the newport is an excellent sandal, i have 3 pairs.i alternate them to even the wear and tear, they are so comfortable, but i thought i would try these as they are closed back and i can fit my special orthotic footbeds in them that is the main reason.Apart from this it's a great sandal for standard size feet, so i won't mark it down for that.Just an update, after wearing for a couple of weeks they have loosened up nicely especially in the toe box area, this was my initial gripe when i first got them, i wore socks with them because they was rubbing on my small toe but this seems to have alleviated and i realise i can wear a sock with them or bare foot as i think fit. This has come in handy as they dont look out of place with socks like an open sandal, and great for winter months with jeans, so have upgraded one star to five stars.I was not sure if I needed to try them on or launch them in the nearest river. They are supposed to be size 12 UK but dwarf all my other size 12 shoes and boots. If that wasn't bad enough the right shoe is a good size bigger than the left. Me thinks these are out of the factory reject bin and if not why not. The price says premium, the quality control says bargain basement.
