This is my first pair of Scarpa shoes, and I am fairly impressed. I've owned nice quality shoes in the past from Vasque, Teva, and Merrill, but the workmanship on these is a cut above. The sueded leather is very nice, as are the heel and toe caps. All of the seams are as clean as I've seen on any shoe - no rough edges or glue slop. The friction of the suede makes the laces a bit difficult to adjust, but they should only need to be set about once or so. The tongue labels are just plain grey, not red as the photo shows, but I don't think that's a big deal since my jeans cover them anyway. The fit is snug, but not tight, and extremely comfortable with one exception: while flexing, the top of the shoes pinch the tops of the toes. I believe it is at least partially due to the tongue bunching up towards the bottom of the laces, where it connects to the shoe. I might be able to remedy it by rerouting the laces through the tongue.Other quirks include the Vibram sole's tendency to catch and hold small pebbles, and the fact that the tongue is not connected to the sides of the shoe. This means that any and every bit of sand or trail debris is going to work its way inside. These won't replace your light hikers. As far as style goes, they are by far the best looking pair of shoes I've ever owned. They look as good on my feet as they do in the photos. Overall, I think I would buy buy them again.
