Initial review: Total Time Worn 5 hours, 4 of them trail hiking. So far so good. I wore them for about an hour the first time through moderately rough terrain, arch and ankle support are good. I think they are fairly lightweight for what they are, you will know you have boots on, but I have a pair of heavy duty leather Merrills and these are much much lighter.2nd outing was over 3 hours with over 2.5 actually moving. I walked up and down bluffs, with some mud due to recent rains and the traction and the ankle support were great. I would call these confidence inspiring as I really felt like I didn't have to worry about my feet. At one point I walked through some fallow fields and was trudging through knee high or high uncut brush with no trail. No telling what insects or other critters were in there as it was too thick to see. If i was wearing sneakers it would not have been fun, but these things were great. After 3 hours my dogs were barking, but I can't blame the shoe, as I haven't done much hiking in the last 10 years and am just starting to get back into it. I paired these with some great lightweight Wigwam socks and I had no blisters or skin abrasions. Anyone who has hiked can tell you, that to basically break in a new pair of boots on the trail and not have any blisters is a pretty good sign. The laces don't stay tied quite as long as I'd like, I found myself retying them 2-3 times in 3 hours. Maybe I don't know how to tie boot laces correctly, but that is what I observed.I can't say if they will hold up long-term, but so far they are pretty perfect for what I want them for and I'll just continue to put them through their paces until they give out. I'll update when that happens.
