It's taken some time to find a shoe that accommodates my orthotics. Just because a shoe is expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's a quality piece of footwear. At the end of my rope, I decided to try the Propet shoe, which was considerably less expensive than the one suggested by my Podiatrist. It took about 2 hours of break in and that was it.One of my biggest concerns was how my feet would feel after driving for a long distance. In the past, after about 2 hours of travel I could feel pain in my heels, which would necessitate a "pit stop" to get out and stretch. At that point, even getting out of the vehicle was painful and would take 30 to 45 seconds to get comfortable enough to walk. 2 days after I began using these shoes, I took a 5 hour trip to some property we own. All I can say is, it was the difference between night and day. No heel pain, no calf pain and just minor stiffness in my lower back. With regard to the fit; they were a wee bit narrow but they have since loosened up to the point of acceptable comfort. Also, there was a bit of tightness at the top of my foot when the orthotic was inserted, however adjusting the laces accommodated that and has not been an issue since.I've worn these Propets for a couple of days, and they seem reasonably comfortable. As others have mentioned, the toe box is a bit more narrow than I've usually found with this company (I've had several pairs of lifewalkers over the years). The other thing that surprised me was the softness of the material of the sole. Thankfully, there is a wear pad at the ball of the foot and the heel. But I suspect that the remainder of the sole will not wear well. Time will tell. Otherwise, construction seems good.I have owned several pairs of Propet shoes. I liked the look of this shoe and the price, so I bought it. The quality is excellent, but I can not wear it in my normal size of 11-D. The toe box is a little too tight and the length is a little short. I was afraid that it would be uncomfortable as I am on my feet all day, so I returned them. All in all ... it is a good product and the purchase experience (through Amazon) was great. One exception is that; for a width of 5E (that I ordered), the shoes design / style was a bit narrow ... it looked and felt more like a 4E (or less) instead of 5E.I ordered this shoe in a bit larger size 9 1/2 instead of 8 1/2 and triple wide instead of double wide my actulal shoe size. Since recently ordering shoes from Amazon most of them were too small even when ordering a larger size than my actual shoe size. But, this shoe does fit decently and is comfortible, and I'm keeping it.Shoes are made pretty well. Price was excellent. As I don't like my shoes too tight, I had to return the regular pair and get the XX(5E), and I inserted an insert, to create a better arch support. Now they are what I wanted them to be.Decent shoes but not great for me. Main reason I got them was because they were supposed to be 5E width. Please, no where near it. They felt more like some 2X wide I've tried on. Also, I wasn't that impressed with the material. The upper felt kind of flimsy. After a couple of days I returned them and bought a pair of Dunhams like I should have in the first place. Dunhams are worth the extra money.I take a size 8 4E, these were snug in the 5E ( wide ), but otherwise fit was OK in the toe box.
