I have flat and wide feet, fits perfectly no tightness , a comfy sole like Skechers but the sturdiness of MerrellThese shoes are comfortable and supportive. Burly like boots but without the blisters and added weight. The altalight is a sturdy trail running shoe. It’s slightly bigger than my other merells.I always wear a 12M.I would order a half size smaller and be fine.I wear darn tough socks so I’m ok with the 12.Keeping them!I've owned several pairs of Merrell hiking boots over the years and these have little in common with any of them. The uppers of these boots appear to consist of 3 pieces: the tongue, which is nicely padded, the upper, which is nylon and thinly padded, and a single, large seemingly dye-cut piece of synthetic rubber material that wraps around the entire boot. No leather or suede anywhere. The boots I received do not look anything like those illustrated on the Amazon website. The soles, which are labeled "Quantum Grip", are made of a soft, almost sticky rubber and do, indeed, provide excellent grip. The insoles, which are removable, provide good padding and the arch is in exactly the right place. The shoes are very light in weight and suitable for day hiking only: I'd not chance any kind of backpacking trip wearing these.Mine run narrower than previous Merrells so I ordered a half size larger and they fit OK. There could be more room in the toe box.Time will tell whether these are durable but I will be careful to use these for trail-based day hikes only and I will not expose them to too much rocky terrain nor carry too much weight when using them.I think they are a good shoe. Is taking a bit longer to get them broke in. A little more rigid than I thought, but it in no way is a negative. I am looking forward to them. My only complaint is they could have been 10-15 cheaper for the shoe. Finally they made a product all in black. Great shoes fit great the only problem I have with them is that they are a bit warm for the summer. But the support and the quality of the product is excellentMore rigid and durable than expected, true to what's expected of a Merrell shoe. Great buy so far! Love the sturdy feel and the comfort all in one.Returned because they were too big but the shoe itself looked good and felt sturdy for a hiking tennis shoe. Fits may be half size smaller than usual. Matrial quality is really good.
