This was my first year in really cold weather. I have not purchased cold weather gear in a long time. I'm one of those people that does a lot of research before purchasing any product. What I've learned is that layering is the best approach to keeping warm while allowing you to adjust based on your environment. I've tried on several brands and different jacket configurations. 3 in 1 jackets, lined jackets, puffers. I thought 3 in 1 would be the best option because it gives me different configuration choices for layering. After careful consideration, I decided it was just as easy and cost effective to just buy different layers that I could use for different weather conditions. In the end I chose this jacket as my outer layer. The jacket has been excellent so far. I'm actually surprised at how warm it keeps me. It has very minimal insulation to it. So far, I've used it in 30+ degree weather with nothing more than a t-shirt underneath and its kept me warm. Does an excellent job of keeping out the wind too. If I just add a light down midlayer or fleece, I can wear it in temperatures in the teens, easily.Fits perfect. I'm 6'2" 200lbs and the Large fits me fine. The only reason for giving it 4 stars we because I didn't like the location of the cinch straps at the bottom. I prefer them to be inside the pockets of the jacket.Fit a little big but I love the color and the technology to keep body heat in. I'm naturally a warm person so i dont need a 3 in 1 jacket to stay warm. I wanted a lighter jacket that would do a similar task and this one did it. Very durable and waterproof exterior so a great jacket for snowboarding or the elements of mother nature.Absolutely amazing jacket. I bought this jacket for short motorcycle rides in DC during the winter. Our winters are mild but it can get pretty chilly here, especially on a Harley. I was impressed that even going 55mph+ I did not feel any wind or air leaks at all. When I first received the jacket I felt the jacket was to light and not very well insulated. But I was so impressed how well it held up during a particularly cold night. It surpassed all my expectations. The jacket is light yet retains body exceptionally well. Two thumbs with this jacket, definitely love it!Very lightweight jacket. Could use more insulation in the sleeves. Body of jacket has metallic like film dots inside to reflect warmth. I live in Wisconsin and wore this outside in wind chills of -35. Arms were a little cool. Bought a 2-XL and it is a bit too big. Also hangs longer than I'd like in a jacket. Good purchase, though.....got it around $50 cheaper through Amazon than I'd get through Columbia or a store.Update (12/20/2016)Spent a whole day in Leavenworth, WA on 12/17/2016 in 16F temp, wearing a t-shirt and an undershirt underneath this jacket. It performed great and I didn't feel any cold. Great jacketThe reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because:1) It doesn't have underarm vents2) The hood is detachable3) It feels a bit small. The XXL is feels too big. This is the jacket to get, if you want something water resistant, and to keep you warm. My wife's back is negatively affected by the cold weather. This prevents that from happening. It isn't a jacket for those who like thin and short jackets, but if you are okay with a longer jacket, and don't mind it being a bit bulky, it is perfect to keep you warm. Lots of pockets, and even google/ski glove pocket inside.I had one of these jackets in black and mislaid it somewhere. Really loved that one so I ordered this as a replacement. Found that it kept me warm unless I was out for a long time then the arms seemed to cool off, not drastically but enough to be noticeable.Great replacement for my old Convert snowboarding jacket. I was a little concerned that it was so thin that I would be cold but two days after I got this jacket I went on a business trip and had to walk about 3 miles in downtown Toronto at 11pm. It was about 20 degrees outside and snowing. Man i was sweating. The ONLY downside that this jacket has is its missing armpit vents. I really used those on my old jacket for snowmobiling for snowshoeing treks.I love the jacket. Is not pinkish as it's in the picture. It's fully red. I have it for 2 weeks, but I can say it's very comfortable and very warm. For vegans, I can say that the jacket doesn't use any animal material (no down, no leather), and for me that's a pro. The pockets are large and very accessible. I think it's very great for a urban/trekking jacket, but a bit too warm for skiing, keeping in mind that it doesn't have underarm ventilation. I recommend you to get a smaller size than you usually use. For example I usually have M size, but from Columbia I have to get the S size.PRO:- very warm- great materials- down-free jacketCONS:- no underarm zippers- size too large ( you wear L, buy M, you wear M, buy S etc)- hand end sleeve doesn't have a hole to put your big thumbIn the end, I recommend you to get this jacket. It's a great, great product!Lightweight, warm, lovely material, nice fit as shown in photo on Amazon. Would highly recommend.Excellent product.Choose one number under the usual, for me M vs L and fits perfect.
