I bought this jacket with the intention of using it as a winter jacket. I went to the Columbia store in NYC to see if i could see the jacket in person, however, they did not carry this specific jacket model at their store. I asked an employee there if this was a good choice for a winter jacket and also asked if it was a better choice for winter than an interchange Columbia jacket, he said it was. After which I decided to buy this jacket off amazon since they had the best price on it.After receiving it, I realized that it was clearly not a winter jacket. This jacket does look very good, however, it is VERY thin. Yes it has the omniheat lining, but thats about it, its a really good soft shell with omni heat panel and pretty much a paper thin filling. its not very warm, i tried it on and stepped outside into 48 degree weather wearing a turtle neck underneath it and felt uncomfortably chilly.I feel that this would be a good jacket to wear with a heavy sweater underneath or with thermals on, but if you want to wear it casually or to work like i wanted to, with just a dress shirt and undershirt underneath, its not the jacket for you for winter.Jacket runs a little big which is perfect for wearing it with sweaters underneath.
