It's taken some time to find a shoe that accommodates my orthotics. Just because a shoe is expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's a quality piece of footwear. At the end of my rope, I decided to try the Propet shoe, which was considerably less expensive than the one suggested by my Podiatrist. It took about 2 hours of break in and that was it.One of my biggest concerns was how my feet would feel after driving for a long distance. In the past, after about 2 hours of travel I could feel pain in my heels, which would necessitate a "pit stop" to get out and stretch. At that point, even getting out of the vehicle was painful and would take 30 to 45 seconds to get comfortable enough to walk. 2 days after I began using these shoes, I took a 5 hour trip to some property we own. All I can say is, it was the difference between night and day. No heel pain, no calf pain and just minor stiffness in my lower back. With regard to the fit; they were a wee bit narrow but they have since loosened up to the point of acceptable comfort. Also, there was a bit of tightness at the top of my foot when the orthotic was inserted, however adjusting the laces accommodated that and has not been an issue since.
