These *Minnetonka Men's Moosehide Weekend Moccasin* [boat-moc-like] shoes are easily the best shoes I've ever tried. They are made out of moosehide ~ which seems thick, strong and soft as compared to other leather and leather-like materials. This moosehide is even used to make the generous fairly deep insoles ~ which seems to greatly help in giving these shoes a very soft tread ~ gentle and silent. I've tried them over various areas ~ such as level dirt, grass and concrete to rough dirt, grass and concrete to tiled, hardwood and concrete flooring. And these shoes enable easy soft, gentle and silent steps over all surfaces. This is despite them having sturdy general nonslip soles under both heel and frontal feet areas. These separate sole areas seem to enable fine adaptable natural rolling treading to help with stepping over all surfaces.The heel sole areas extend up in back of the heels for extra firmness and protection as do the frontal soles up in front to protect the frontal toe areas. In my view, these extra areas even add to the FINE styling of these special shoes ~ that have great sleek lines helped by the stylish but firm stitching that contrasts well with the moosehide that naturally is finely grained. The shoes are just a bit low lined which actually adds to the sleek look as well as enabling easy slipper-like putting them on and off. And they will function as great boat shoes despite non-standard [for boat shoes] treading ~ that ARE very nonslip to help with the very easy rolling steps ideal for a variable deck or dock.They do run just a bit small in sizing likely due to the quite thick and soft insoles. I got *Caramel Moose* ones half a size up from my usual standard size and they fit okay via the cords tied as close as possible ~ but now are a bit loose ~ to make them very soft and very quiet house-slippers. Then I got *Chocolate Moose* ones in my usual size that are spot-on ~ and stay spot-on via the leather deck-shoe-like cords that I use to keep these deck-moc-like shoes like snug slip-ons +++
