This was my first year in really cold weather. I have not purchased cold weather gear in a long time. I'm one of those people that does a lot of research before purchasing any product. What I've learned is that layering is the best approach to keeping warm while allowing you to adjust based on your environment. I've tried on several brands and different jacket configurations. 3 in 1 jackets, lined jackets, puffers. I thought 3 in 1 would be the best option because it gives me different configuration choices for layering. After careful consideration, I decided it was just as easy and cost effective to just buy different layers that I could use for different weather conditions. In the end I chose this jacket as my outer layer.The jacket has been excellent so far. I'm actually surprised at how warm it keeps me. It has very minimal insulation to it. So far, I've used it in 30+ degree weather with nothing more than a t-shirt underneath and its kept me warm. Does an excellent job of keeping out the wind too. If I just add a light down midlayer or fleece, I can wear it in temperatures in the teens, easily.Fits perfect. I'm 6'2" 200lbs and the Large fits me fine.The only reason for giving it 4 stars we because I didn't like the location of the cinch straps at the bottom. I prefer them to be inside the pockets of the jacket.
