Comfortable to wear from their first outing. AND look good eatuiher casual, ir with a dressier outfit - good for church, work, errands, etc.I’ve bought these boots twice the only problem I have with these boots is on I start wearing them within two weeks the sole becomes unglued , it doesn’t come apart because of the stitching but definitely let’s water in other than that these boots are super comfortable once broken in and can last a couple of years.Overall I am very happy with my purchase. The shipping was prompt and I received the boots sooner than I expected. I purchased Clarks Desert Boots in Beeswax finish. I purchased the boots a half size smaller than what I normally wear, like what was recommended from the other reviews, and they fit perfectly. To give you an idea, I normally wear a size 8 EE, but got a size 7 1/2 M. I have short, but wide feet—kind of like Flintstone feet. These boots definitely fit larger than what your normal size is.The first day of wearing them was a bit uncomfortable. The leather and soles were stiff and tight, as to be expected with new leather boots. My feet hurt and I thought I might've made a mistake. However, I hung in there and wore them again and after two days of break-in they have become the most comfortable boot I have (I have two other pairs of Clarks—Medway style boots, which they don't make anymore). You need to wear them at least a couple of days consecutively in order to break them in—don't give up!!! My son, has the same Desert boots and told me to keep wearing them for several days in order to break them in and he was spot on! The leather stretches to fit your feet. You can't just wear them one day a week and expect they to break in.If I have any issues with the boots it would be this—like I said my son has them same exact boots, but his were darker than mine. The boots I got were a lot lighter, quite a bit lighter actually. I almost thought they were the wrong boots (I had purchased the Beeswax color), but realized that not all leather boots will be exactly the same. I was about to return them, but decided to keep them and am extremely happy I did! Some reviewers have said not to put sealant on them, but that is just nonsensical—I don't have the suede version so I cannot speak for that style of leather. I put Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP on my Clark's Desert Boots and it not only made them dark, but it has protected my investment—and that is what your Clark's are an investment. Some reviewers have also said that the Crepe soles are slippery—I live in Oregon and have not found that to be true, the gripping has been great! If you are on the fence in purchasing these boots like I was, don't keep yourself from missing out on probably the most comfortable boots you'all ever own. If you have the money get them.Clark’s Desert Boot is a “must have” boot & all should own at least 1 pair, in my opinion. They never go out of style & are versatile enough to be worn for many occasions. I have been wearing another pair, in the taupe brushed/distressed suede, for 7 years & they are still a good boot I will continue to wear. Despite what some may assume or say, the crepe sole last a long time & are more durable than you would expect. They are extremely comfortable, especially after you break in. I’ve wanted the Beeswax Desert Boot for a while ,so finally ordered & received them. The shipping was slow , even for free shipping, but well worth the wait. They have a very nice & unique finish, quality leather & have a somewhat worn or distressed look after wearing them just the first time. You have to expect that look with the type of leather the beeswax Desert Boot has & is part of the appeal of them. These seem to require a little more time to break in compared to the suede, but expected w/ a firmer leather. The light crepe sole will get dirty immediately but it doesn’t look bad or noticeable to anyone. I did have a little concern bc every pair I’ve owned had “Clark’s Originals Desert Boot” printed on the insole. These just have “Clark’s “ in plain black lettering. A few other buyers confirmed that theirs had the same “Clark’s” lettering so that put me at ease. They are authentic so no concerns there. As others say, order 1/2 to a full size smaller than you wear in other shoes. I normally wear an 11.5 & have to go with 10.5 with Clark’s. I love the beeswax finish & will enjoy them for years to come. I didn’t give 5 stars bc the seller did not address my concern & if I could just rate them, I would give less stars but I don’t want their lack of customer service to reflect on Clark’s or the Desert Boot. If you don’t own a pair of any color of Clark’s Desert Boots... order some now! These feel just a little loose on my feet, but no insert I've tried proves as comfortable as the natural shoe, so I'll stick with it. The crepe sole is both a strong point (nice and soft underfoot) and a weakness since it is flexible enough that I can feel pebbles. The suede prefers to stay dry (which is understandable for something called a desert boot), so use preservative if you live in a climate where rain occasionally falls. The sole also blackens from dirt but if you live near a beach, go for a walk in the sand; the abrasion will help clean the shoe's bottom. All in all, I really enjoy these boots, even if they're not five star in the above ratingPurchased these for a trip abroad, as they had great write-ups on various sites for comfort while doing a lot of walking. Great fit, were true to size, for me. They took a week to break in, did help them along with coconut oil. Really like the quality, would purchase another pair. Walked > 10 - 18k a day for a couple of weeks and my feet were very comfortable the entire time. These boots look amazing from any angle. Functional, minimal, comfortable, easy in and easy out. They go well with just about any casual outfit in my opinion.Be warned, these are NOT winter boots! There is no insulation and the crepe sole is quite slippery on icy Toronto sidewalks. The pair I received is in a slightly lighter shade of brown than what Amazon advertises here. It shipped from SoftMoc apparently. I imagine after a few waxes and polishes it'll appear in a richer shade of brown one day.I wear a US 10 normally but I read reviews online and decided to order a US 9. It still fits tight (1 week now), especially with wool socks, but by no means painful. Once it breaks in it should fit wonderfully. Highly recommend!Best boot on the market! They're not waterproof, terrible in snow, and hit the summer, but they're comfortable, last for years, fit better with age, and always look goodNice shoe - leather is good quality and fits as expected. It is a desert boot. Don't expect a lot of padding etc. But these will wear in to your favorite pair of shoes in no time.
