Very stiff at first and have a larger profile than i expected. The soles are hard, but the insoles have a nice soft cushion. I got these for about $50 and only wear them on formal occasions (as I prefer wearing brown shoes to work). The fit my purpose, but please note that Stacy Adams shoes are really not the best. I've had a few pairs and with daily wear, the soles will separate from the body within 9 months. Since they are so cheap, you can justify having to purchase a pair every year if that's your thing.
