(~2010): As a sailboat owner who also races, I've tried a variety of cloth tapes (including Gaffer's tape). This has to be the best duct tape I've ever tried. The cloth tape is strong and flexible and doesn't easily tear accidentally. The adhesive is strong and doesn't leave a residue even after the tape has been exposed to the sun and weather for over a year. It holds well even when repeatedly dunked in seawater. The only negative is that it can be challenging to find and is usually more expensive than other cloth tape (except Gaffer's tape).Edit (11/26/2017): I have been using this duct tape for over 12 years now. It still performs well with regard to adhesive strength and durability. I use it in many non-sailing applications. I've had duct tape on items for over 7 years, and it still removes easily without residue. And the tape does not age much. The negative is still the same as my 2008 review above: it is more expensive than other tapes but worth it if needed.Edit (6/9/2022): I have found items with this duct tape on them for over 15 years, and it still comes off cleanly. It’s also staying solid and flexible. It’s getting more expensive, but once you try it, you realize its many uses (I’m here today to buy more!).Edit (01/12/2024): The tape has finally met its match. I have an exposed strip that is under a reptile lamp, getting about 12 hours of UV light each day. After one and a half years, the tape finally disintegrates, looking like other cheaper cloth tapes. So it is mortal but still lasts orders of magnitude longer than other vinyl cloth tapes. For regular uses, it has no match. Shop around since the 22.8-meter roll may be priced the same as the 55-meter roll (i.e., twice as expensive).
